Title
Presidents of the Jewish Education League
Description
In the early 1900's as hundreds of immigrant groups arrived to Toledo, community leaders saw a desperate need for English language skills, recreational and social services. The Jewish Community Center was established and, in addition to other services, operated a Jewish Education League. In this black and white portrait taken around 1920, the Jewish Education League's first president, Morris Lempert, passes the gavel to his successor, Harry Levinson.
